Unified Communications ’09 co-located with VoIP for Business ‘09 opens today at Olympia, London

London 11th March 2009: Unified Communications ’09 co-located with VoIP for Business opens today with announcements expected from BT Business, Cisco, Plantronics and more. Live case studies on stand to speak to press and a roundtable debate on the future of UC hosted by UC Strategies.

Announcements happening at the event include:

• BT Business, Research In Motion (RIM) and Cisco announce the integration of BlackBerry® Mobile Voice System (MVS) technology with current BT and Cisco UC technologies. Product to launch later this year

• Cisco announces the SPA525G, the industry’s first wireless (802.11G) desktop IP phone with native Bluetooth

• Plantronics unveils the industry’s first wireless headset solutions for Unified Communications

• WiredRed launches Nefsis – next generation, on-demand multipoint video conferencing

• 500 Limited will be demonstrating the industry’s first fully integrated IP telephony web conferencing solution

• 12:30 Wednesday 11th: Bruce Morse, VP Unified Communications Software at IBM will look at using real-time technologies to connect across geographies and organisations. Located in the Unified Communications & Messaging theatre.

• 13:10 Wednesday 11th: Roundtable debate: Software based UC – The new puzzle – Jim Burton of UC Strategies will host a roundtable debate with five key industry experts including Brendan Buckingham from IBM, Chris Majer from Interactive Intelligence, Matthew Krueger from NET, Glynn Jones from Polycom and Anthony Finbow from Psytechnics on the future of UC including their future roadmaps. Located in the VoIP Applications and Infrastructure theatre.

• The Microsoft Community Event: running over both event days, this free event will focus on why a business should adopt a collaboration and communication platform, what this would look like and who it will affect as well as SharePoint in action and OCS and Exchange in action on the 11th March. Thursday 12th will be a more technical focused day looking at configuring OCS and Exchange, SharePoint power out of the box and compliance and archiving using Exchange and SharePoint.

• Applications Alive! This feature brought to you by Nortel will demonstrate how Unified Communications works in real life – health, retail and education scenarios will be illustrated at the show with the retail demonstration including a V-Teen (virtual teenager).
