Cisco TANDBERG Integration with Communicator for Mac 2011

on July 31st, 2011 by - Comments Off

This video demonstrates the video calling capability using the Cisco TANDBERG VCS (Video Communications Server) integration in the infrastructure to Microsoft’s new Lync 2010 server. It is important to note that this works today with release software today on the VCS and the AMGW (Advanced Media Gateway). The VCS version is x5.2 and the AMGW version is 1.0. It is important to note that the AMGW transcodes the RTVideo codec from Microsoft into standards based H.264. Within the Office 2011 suite Microsoft have Communicator for Mac 2011 and this does not support H.263 like on the Windows based MOC. As a consiquence without the VCS and AMGW for transcoding nativily video calling between a MAC and a standards based video endpoint would not be possible due to limiatations of only using RTVideo.
